Gravel Boards

Gravel boards, typically made from wood, concrete, or composite materials, are horizontal planks that run along the bottom of your fence.  They provide a solid base for your fencing and lift it off the ground, preventing direct contact with soil.  This helps your fence last for a much longer period, as exposure to damp, soil and garden pests is reduced.  

Gravel boards are available in a variety of materials: 

• Wooden gravel boards:  These offer a traditional look – treated timber helps resist rot, making this a popular choice.  
• Concrete gravel boards:  Ideal for a long-lasting solution, these are known for their strength and durability.  They do not require maintenance and can withstand all weather conditions.  
• Composite gravel boards: These come in a variety of colours and styles and are resistant to rot and moisture.  

Before installation, ensure the ground is level and clear of debris.  Use fixings or brackets to attach the gravel boards securely to the fence posts.  Make sure your gravel boards are level before fixing.
