Operations Manager, Chris Horn, joined the team in July 2022. With a career spent mostly in the building trade – most recently spending almost a decade working in eCommerce for builders’ merchants – Chris understands the industry inside out and is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for Plane & Simple.
What skills from your career so far have you brought to your role at Plane & Simple?
As I’d worked at an eCommerce start-up business in the same sector before joining Plane & Simple, coming onboard felt like a seamless transition. With young businesses you have to know the company and how it works inside out, so having worked in the sector for much of my career has been a huge help.
I think that my pricing management and general operational experience has helped progress the growth of Plane & Simple in the past year. We’re a data driven business, and the team’s combined skillsets work well for that.
Where do you see Plane & Simple going in the next 3 years?
I think we’ll be a household name with all DIYers. We’ll not only be THE marketplace for all independent builders’ merchants to have an online presence to offer their products to the public, but Plane & Simple will be the go-to destination for dedicated DIYers to effortlessly shop a great range with even better prices.
What’s your favourite thing about Plane & Simple?
The possibilities are endless – an online a marketplace like this has no boundaries, which is why the Plane & Simple model is perfect for both the seller and the buyer. It’s such a great environment to work in, every week a new opportunity comes along and being at the forefront of that makes every day an exciting new challenge.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself…
Although I’ve worked in the building material industry for years, the fact is I’m actually pretty useless at DIY! For years I’ve worked with the products, talked about and sold them but putting them to use myself is a step too far for me!
